Patrick Mullins, M.A., Senior Lecturer
Digital Video Production and Media Studies
Mr. Mullins joined the UTEP faculty in 2002, following 24 years as a working professional in the motion picture industry. He began by working on sponsored film and video productions, and spent over 20 years in post-production for feature films and documentaries, working primarily as a music editor. In more recent years he has concentrated on producing and editing video documentaries.
He produced and edited the video documentary “From Shore to Shore: Irish Traditional Music in New York City,” which focuses on the oral music tradition passed down through several generations of Irish immigrants and their offspring. "From Shore to Shore" has been broadcast on PBS television stations in the New York metropolitan area, and Reno, Nevada, and was broadcast nationally in both Ireland and Australia.
He also produced and edited the video documentary "Bracero Stories," a multi-perspective view of the historic guest-worker program, focusing on oral histories of five former Braceros. "Bracero Stories" is a student-assisted production sponsored by the University of Texas El Paso, Department of Communication, partially funded by Humanities Texas and the Austin Film Society. Bracero Stories has screened in 13 film festivals, won three awards, and has been broadcast on over 800 PBS stations.
Mr. Mullins received an M.A. in Communication from William Paterson University of New Jersey in 1996, and an M.A. in Cinema Studies and Cultural Studies from New York University in 1999.
