UTEP singers sweep NATS competition - Monday, March 13, 2017
At this weekend’s singing competition held at NMSU in Las Cruces, 15 UTEP voice students placed in their divisions, with six taking first place, and one winning first place in both classical and musical theater. The National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) holds these important collegiate competitions around the country. Zuill Bailey wins Grammy Awards! - Sunday, February 12, 2017

UTEP Cello Professor and Artistic Director of El Paso Pro-Musica Zuill Bailey won three Grammy awards Sunday, February 12.

Bailey was nominated in three different categories and won an award for each including: "Best Classical Compendium," "Best Classical Instrumental Solo" and "Best Contemporary Classical Composition" for "Tales of Hemingway."

For all undergraduate music advising, and to receive information about upcoming Music Theory Placement Exams, begin by submitting the NEW Music Advising Questionnaire (MAQ). All new music majors need to take the Music Theory Placement Exam (or take Music Fundamentals 1). Just click on this link.

It's always a good idea to familiarize yourself with your degree plan. Up-to-date degree plans are available at degreeplans.utep.edu. Select a catalog year (usually your first year at UTEP), then "College of Liberal Arts," "Undergraduate" or "Graduate," and scroll through degree plans to "Bach of Music..." or "Master of Music..." Next, click "Get My Degree Plan!"

Graduate Teaching Assistantship

The UTEP Department of Music is inviting applicants for graduate teaching assistantships for the upcoming academic year.

Assistantships are available in either applied or academic areas, pending qualified applicants. These areas include, but are not limited to, band, orchestra, choir, keyboard, guitar, conducting, music education, music history and literature, and music theory and composition. Those prospective and current graduate students who are interested should contact Dr. Dominic Dousa, Graduate Music Advisor, at ddousa@utep.edu, or by calling (915) 747-7819, for more information.

Prospective graduate students who have not yet applied for admission to UTEP should visit the Graduate Studies website.
