UTEP DINNER THEATRE

THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT EL PASO

2016-2017 SEASON OF MUSICALS

Our 34th Season!

COMING SOON!

SIDE DISH STUDENT PRODUCTIONS

The UTEP Dinner Theatre was founded 34 years ago with a production of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT entirely produced, designed and directed by students. In celebration of our roots, the UDT produces an off shoot production entity called SIDE DISH STUDENT PRODUCTIONS. Each year in December SDSP provides qualified student producers, designers and directors with funds and mentorship enabling them to mount a fully produced musical. These student productions are staged in a specially configured intimate black box setting inside the Dinner Theatre. There will not be any meals served for these productions. This project gives students another opportunity at UTEP to hone their skills and gives El Paso audiences a chance to see new and edgier fare that wouldn’t normally be produced at the UDT.

Brilliantly innovative, heartbreaking, and wickedly funny, Hedwig and the Angry

Inch is the landmark rock musical about a man who suffers a botched sex change

operation and then transforms into the infamous Hedwig! “Groundbreaking and

undoubtedly ahead of its time” (Entertainment Weekly). This genre-bending,

fourth-wall-smashing musical sensation, with a pulsing score and electrifying

performances, tells the story of one of the most unique characters to

ever hit the stage.

Welcome to the infamous Kit Kat Club, where the Emcee, Sally Bowles and a raucous ensemble take the stage nightly to tantalize the crowd—and to leave their troubles outside. But as life in pre-WWII Germany grows more and more uncertain, will the decadent allure of Berlin nightlife be enough to get them through these dangerous times? This show features some of the most memorable songs in theater history, including "Cabaret", "Willkommen" and "Maybe This Time". John Kander and Fred Ebb’s Tony and Academy Award winning musical is about following your heart while the world loses its way.
