ARTH 1307  History of Latin-American Art (3-0)
    
        A survey of the major monuments of Latin American art and architecture from the arrival     
        of humans in the region to the present.  Topics will include the formation of indigenous 
        civilization and art, the relationship of Spanish and indigenous civilizations, and the 
        relationship of Latin America to European Modernism.  Course fee required.

ARTH 3308  The Border and Visual Culture  (3-0)

        The class explores the history of art and its role in the civilizations of the El Paso/Northern 
        Chihuahua region, from Hueco Tanks to the rise of Modernism and the mural renaissance.  
        Using the rich artistic legacy of this area, the class examines the way art functions across 
        borders and how borders have been constructed, debated, and lived through in the art of the 
        past.  Course fee required.
