The
UTEP Department of Art is located in the beautiful Fox Fine Arts Center
on the campus of The University of Texas at El Paso. The Department
occupies four floors of the Fox Fine Arts Center, a 215,000 square foot
facility, with 30 studios, galleries and classrooms totaling 65,780
square feet. The department also operates two gallery facilities. The
Department offers studios in the following areas: ceramics, drawing,
metals, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. The Department is also in the
process of updating a computer laboratory so that graphic design
students will be able to exercise their knowledge with the latest
equipment and technology available.
The Art Department maintains a Visual Resources Facility that
currently serves UTEP faculty in the areas of course preparation and
personal research. A collection of over 60,000 slides and videos, as
well as audio-visual equipment, is available for short loan periods
during each academic session. The Art Department is currently in the
process of creating a digital database of images, which will house
thousands of digital objects related to art and art history. These
images will be managed in a web-based environment, and will be
available to UTEP faculty, students and staff on a
round-the-clock basis. For more information on the Visual
Resources Facility please contact
Anne Perry.
