Mission
The mission of the College of Education is to prepare effective teachers, counselors, diagnosticians, and school administrators, who successfully address the problems of schools and other youth serving agencies, especially in communities with a significant Hispanic population.
Vision
The long-term vision of the UTEP College of Education is to expand interdisciplinary research to meet the compelling need for research linking teaching and learning to meet the critical challenges of education in the 21st century. This vision includes the strengthening the role of the College of Education in linking the U.S. and Mexico in building collaborative relationships to enhance current educational theory and practice.
Goals
To increase the number of educators and scholars committed to creating opportunities for educational excellence and equity for all learners, in particular those from minority populations, and to enhance academic achievement at every level.
To strengthen and intensify the culture of scholarship among Education faculty and in collaboration with colleagues from diverse areas of specialization across campus, thus increasing the level of faculty and student scholarship and research productivity.
To develop a sustained, comprehensive, and coherent program of research in support of student learning and development in linguistically and culturally diverse settings.
To engage the College in collaborative planning and consultation on implementing transformative reorganization processes to enhance efficiency and meet the needs of projected growth in enrollment and market demands.
