Robert Webking earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in politics from the University of Dallas and his Master of Arts and Doctor Philosophy degrees in government from the University of Virginia in the 1970s. After teaching briefly at Virginia Commonwealth University, he joined the faculty in the department of political science at the University of Texas at El Paso in 1978, where he is now professor. During his time at UTEP he has served in a variety of administrative roles, including director of the Academic Advising center, assistant vice president for academic affairs, chair of the department political science, director of the Center for Law and Border studies, and co-founder and co-director of the Law School Preparation Institute. He has worked intensively with instructional technology and continues to explore new ways to use technology to enhance teaching and learning.
