General ACES Policies    

  • NO FOOD OR NON-BOTTLED DRINKs are allowed for group/individual study in any of the areas
  • A VALID UTEP ID CARD is required for any services (you should carry it at all times)
  • KEEP NOISE TO A MINIMUM; you may be asked to leave if you are disturbing others
  • Multi-Function rooms are available on a First-Come, First-Served basis.  Reservations more than two hours in advance will not be accepted.
  • Equipment outside of ACES: ONLY Full-time UTEP Faculty/Staff may request use of equipment outside of ACES facilities; provided the proper agreement is signed.

Use of ACES facilities is a privilege.  Students not in compliance with ACES and/or UTEP policies will be asked to leave.  Please help yourself by helping us.

Equipment Usage Agreement

As an ACES user, you understand and agree that:


·      ACES mobile computing equipment (i.e. Laptops, zip drives, etc) are NOT to be removed from the ACES Facility without prior authorization from the ACES Coordinator.


·      All equipment borrowed MUST be returned in the same condition in which It was checked out and all additional components (i.e. cases, network card, cables, power cords, etc) must be returned.


·      You will be liable for any and all damage/loss to the equipment under your care whether from accidental/intentional misuse, abuse, or mishandling


·      You understand that ACES Administrators may remotely monitor all activities performed while using the equipment.


·      You agree not to display material that may be OFFENSIVE to other ACES Users and will abide by the University Standards of Conduct2 and computer usage policy3. Any violation of these policies will result in immediate revocation of equipment usage privileges.


·      You understand that you are not allowed to alter system settings and/or install unauthorized software, violation will result in immediate revocation of equipment usage privileges.


·      ACES is NOT responsible for any data that may have been saved on the hard drive and/or a diskette/CD left behind upon equipment return. Files should always be saved to a diskette or myspace; NEVER to the hard drive.


·      There is a THREE (3) HOUR TIME LIMIT for the usage of equipment. You may renew your checkout for a longer period of time provided there are no other users requiring said equipment. Students who abandon laptops without checking them back in will automatically lose all equipment checkout privileges.


·      CD-ROMs are for reading and running applications; they are NOT to be used for music/video playing purposes.


·      Students not in compliance with any of these policies may have one verbal warning; a second offense will result in immediate revocation of equipment usage privileges.
