Assists with Library web development. Curator, the Jagdish Mehra Collection: November 1997 - March 1999
    Special Collections and Archives Department, University of Houston Libraries, Houston, TX

Maintained daily operation of the collection facility. Administered, developed, organized, and provided access to various facets of the collection, including monographs, journals, correspondence, photographs, audiotapes, transcripts, and manuscripts. Worked closely with the donor to establish historical context of the collection. Developed public outreach programs. Oversaw the development of computerized finding aids through the Internet as well as full automation of the collection’s records in the Innopac integrated library system. Coordinated the identification and preparation of external funding sources, the continued development of the collection, and reference services to scholars using the collection. Supervised two full-time staff.

Manuscripts Cataloger (One-year, temporary position): January - October 1997

Performed original cataloging of manuscript, visual, and mixed material collections via OCLC.
Assigned subject headings according to LCSH. Exported completed records into NOTIS-based OPAC. Processed archival collections and wrote finding aids. Supervised one part-time student employee. Wrote manuscript cataloging manual for internal use. Redesigned donor files.

Reference Librarian (Part-time/substitute): October 1996 - December 1996
    Brighton District Library, Brighton, MI

Helped patrons of all ages to identify, locate, and access information. Developed expertise in using CD-ROM and on-line information databases. Assisted patrons with the library’s DRA-based OPAC. Student Internship: January - June 1996
    State Archives of Michigan, Lansing, MI

Processed the personal papers of Loleta Dawson Fyan, former state librarian of Michigan. Assessed preservation needs, selected subject headings according to LCSH, created a MARC cataloging worksheet, and wrote a finding aid for the collection. Inventoried the remaining unprocessed photographs on a volunteer basis.

Student Internship: January - April 1995
    Turfgrass Information Center, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI

Assisted with the development of a 2nd edition catalog of the O.J. Noer Memorial Turfgrass Collection. Produced an owned and unowned item “seek” list of turfgrass information materials from the TGIF (Turfgrass Information File) on-line database set up on the Cuadra STAR program platform. Performed database searches, created and edited records.
