Dr. Boehmer's picture

Dr. Charles Boehmer received his Ph.D. in Political Science from The Pennsylvania State University in 2002 and joined UTEP that fall. Dr. Boehmer's dissertation examined the effects of economic growth on interstate conflict, which is part of a broader interest on the nexus of international political economy and conflict studies. Dr. Boehmer's research interests include international organization, international conflict, terrorism, civil war, international political economy, border studies, and democratization.

 
Dr. Boehmer has published articles in World Politics, International Organization, Journal of Peace Research and other journals.  Dr. Boehmer has several current research projects, including the implications of missing trade data on the study of interstate conflict, the effects of food deprivation on civil war, the determinants of immigration policies (cross-nationally), the effects of economic growth on interstate conflict, and the role of IGOs on economic growth.
 

Dr. Boehmer's teaching interests include many areas of international relations, including international political economy, international conflict, international organization.  Dr. Boehmer also teaches research methods and econometrics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels of instruction.
