UTEP’s Instructional Support Services is committed to serving as a model of excellence in providing integrated support for pedagogically and technologically effective university teaching. In its internal organization, ISS is dedicated to creating a working environment that fosters broad, productive cooperation in the use of its varied staff and resources. ISS is also committed to the personal growth and professional advancement of all its staff members and student employees.
The staff and students of ISS will provide the best possible service to faculty, staff, and students, to support activities dedicated to teaching and learning at UTEP.
ISS staff and students are committed to
• Improving instructional design in UTEP courses and curricula
• Promoting the effective use of technology in teaching and learning
• Anticipating and assessing UTEP faculty and staff needs for better
instruction -- in theory, design and application-- either face-to-face or
online
• Supplying UTEP instructors with opportunities and ideas for
instructional and curriculum development
• Communicating clearly and helpfully with those faculty, staff, and
student users of ISS services
• Integrating students and faculty into the UTEP academic community
• Assessing the quality of teaching and learning at UTEP
• Supporting community-wide efforts to improve teaching and learning,
when consistent with UTEP's mission
• Engaging faculty in the scholarship of teaching
