The program provides its students with the skills to be successful in their career endeavors through top quality instruction and advisement. Criminal Justice graduates will be ready to meet the challenges the criminal justice field provides.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Criminal Justice Program at the University of Texas El Paso is to provide leadership on critical issues related to crime and criminal justice and serve as a catalyst for scholarly research. Our educational role is orient students to the fields of Criminal Justice and Criminology; to provide an understanding of how the criminal justice system functions, in theory and in practice; to think critically and communicate effectively and, in the advanced courses, to prepare them to conduct rigorous Crime / Criminal Justice research. We also aim to contribute to the professionalization of the law enforcement and legal personnel of the United States – Mexico border region.
