As a participant in the UTEP Alternative Certification program, you are encouraged to take advantage of the services provided by the College of Education. These include practicing for the state certification exam by taking the UTEP qualifying exam and attending review sessions provided by the College of Education.
The College of Education provides consultant led review sessions for its students seeking certification in the EC-4, Middle and Special Education areas. You are eligible to attend these review sessions which will help you become familiar with the content that is covered on these exams. The College of Education does not provide any content preparation for those seeking certification in a secondary area. You will need to prepare for these exams on your own or seek private tutoring. In addition, the College of Education provides consultant led review sessions for all PPR exams. These sessions cover all PPR exams and are led by an area expert. Information on these review sessions can be found at this website under the Review Session tab.
You are also encouraged to take the College of Education’s Qualifying Exam for your content area and the PPR. These qualifying exams are designed by the state and are representative of the questions you will see on the certification exam. You must register for the qualifying exam. Dates, times and deadlines regarding the qualifying exam are available at this website under the Qualifying Exam tab.
Additional information regarding the TExES/ExCET Certification exam, program requirements or certification can be obtained from the ATCP office (747-7605).
