General Procedures for Applying    

US Citizens/Residents need to...
  1. Complete and submit on-line application form
  2. Pay the application fee ($45)
  3. Submit official *transcripts from all colleges or universities you have attended
  4. Submit official standardized test scores (GRE/GMAT if applicable)
  5. Submit statement of purpose (if applicable)
  6. Submit letters of recommendation (if applicable)
International Applicants need to...

  1. Complete and submit on-line application form
  2. Pay the application fee ($80)
  3. Submit official *transcripts, diplomas, certificates
  4. Submit official standardized test scores (GRE/GMAT if applicable)
  5. Submit statement of purpose (if applicable)
  6. Submit letters of recommendation (if applicable)
  7. Submit official TOEFL scores (this is an immigration requirement)
  8. Submit confirmation of financial resources

*Provisional transcripts are accepted from students who will earn an undergraduate degree before enrolling at UTEP.

Applying Online

Online application to one of UTEP’s over 80 master's and 19 doctoral programs is easy. The UTEP Graduate School accepts applications year round and the deadlines depend on the semester in which applicants wish to begin their course work. All applicants are recommended to check their prospective departments for deadline dates and special entry requirements such as GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, PTE or IELTS exams. The online application asks for detailed information on candidates’ academic background. Before scrolling down to start the application process candidates should make sure they have the following documents at hand:

  • Transcripts of all universities and colleges attended prior to application

  • Entry test scores for GRE/GMAT/TOEFL/IELTS/PTE (check department if applicable)

  • Records of any completed certification and non-degree programs

  • Proof of citizenship or permanent resident status

  • Records of resident history for last two years (military spouses may contact the registrars office to establish residency)

The Graduate school needs official copies of the following documents to successfully process applications into the Graduate School:

  • Official Transcripts
  • Application fee payment
  • Test scores and reference letters (if required by department)
