   Dr. Ruey (Kelvin) Cheu received his Ph.D. degree at University of California at Irvine in 1994. He served as a faculty at the National University of Singapore for 12 years prior to joining UTEP in August 2006. Since joining UTEP, Dr. Cheu has received several externally funded research projects from the Texas Department of Transportation and El Paso Metropolitan Planning Organization. Dr. Cheu has vast research interests in transportation. His focuses have changed with market needs and emerging technologies (for details of his past and current research projects and publications, please see his resume). His research program at UTEP focuses on border transportation, with emphasis on transportation planning, public transportation and transportation security. He now serves as an editorial board member of 2 international journals: Transportation Research Part C:Emerging Technologies and Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems. In addition, he is a member of 2 Transportation Research Board committees. Dr. Cheu is a licensed professional engineer in Texas.
