Emergency Tuition Loans

Any student enrolled at the university for the current semester NOT receiving any type of Financial Aid. A tuition loan is not based on credit. The loans are available as long as there is funding. The loan only pays mandatory fees. The interest rate is five percent annually. It must be repaid during the semester in which the loan is obtained. Loans are available to resident, non-resident and international students. Funds for  for out-of-state and international students are limited.

Important !
  • Emergency Tuition/Book Loans are subject to availability of funds.
  • You must be 18 or over to use this process. Any applicant under the age of 18 must contact the Office of Student Financial Aid (747-5055) for information.
  • If you have any outstanding balances, they must be cleared with the Student Business Services Office (747-5105) before beginning this process.
  • Read and follow all instructions carefully.
  • For your records, immediately print any pages you are prompted to print during the process.
  • To verify that your Emergency Tuition Loan and Installment Plan Loan have been processed, check the Goldmine website (www.goldmine.utep.edu).

  • Please read the following statement carefully.

    I understand any suspected fraud will be reported to the appropriate authorities and the Office of the Attorney General. Such information as false or fictitious driver license, name, addresses and telephone numbers will be considered as an attempt of fraud. If you purposely give false or misleading information on this application, school administrators may also sanction you with disciplinary action.

    Common Errors / Troubleshooting
    1. If you do not have a drivers license number issued in United States, please enter 8 zeros.
    2. You will need the complete name/address/telephone of two references. These references cannot be living at the same address and at least one must be a U. S. address.(For State please Abbreviate two letters Example Texas TX.)
    3. You will need your employer's name/address/telephone if you are currently employed.
    4. Enter CHI for the city if you are from Mexico.
    5. If you are attempting to process your emergency loan from home and use Road Runner you may experience problems with the site. If this occurs, try using a computer that uses a different internet provider.
    Payment Notification

    UTEP has implemented an e-mail system to notify students of installment plans and emergency loan payment deadlines. These will be sent only to students that have elected the installment payment plan or have received an emergency loan. Student Business Services, will no longer mail bills to remind students of upcoming installment plans deadlines or emergency loan payment deadlines during the term. Please note that this notification will only be sent to "UTEP.EDU" e-mail addresses.

    We will continue to mail a term charge bill that provides the class schedule and tuition and fees assessed for that semester via US postal service, . To verify that your Emergency Tuition Loan and Installment Plan Loan have been processed, check the Goldmine website GOLDMINE
