Information for Prospective Tutors

Each semester, the University Writing Center (UWC) offers qualified students the chance to earn money while assisting fellow writing students. The number of these challenging and rewarding positions varies from semester to semester. In addition, the UWC encourages students to apply and have a current resume on file should a position open up during the semester.

Questions to ask yourself to see if you would like to become a tutor

  1. Would you like to challenge yourself?
  2. Would you like to earn extra money while you learn and help others?
  3. Would you like a flexible work schedule?
  4. Would you like to work on campus?
  5. Would you like to strengthen your interpersonal skills?
  6. Would you like to add job experience and gain a recommendation from a position at the UWC?

If you answered yes to all of these questions, then why not apply for a position at the UWC. Simply complete a tutor application and bring it to the UWC located on the 3rd floor of the main library. Next send the recommendation form to your professors. Once received, your application will be reviewed. Next, we will contact you for an interview. Once hired, you will receive paid training. Once training is complete, you may set your schedule and begin to tutor.
