Program Overview
The Computational Science program at the University of Texas at El Paso offers an M.S. and a Ph.D. degree.

The program strives to produce graduates skilled in applying modern methods of mathematical modeling and computer simulation to solve complex problems in
various areas of engineering and science.
Graduates of the Computational Science program will be able to assess the validity of
models and reliability of numerical methods.

The M.S. program provides two tracks:
     • An academic track, which prepares students to continue with
further academic studies and into the Ph.D. degree, and
     • A professional track, which prepares students to join the work force after                     graduation.

Both the non-thesis and thesis options are available to students in the academic track.
The professional track will only have the non-thesis option, and an internship is required.

Ph.D. graduates, moreover, have a significantly deeper education in mathematical
modeling of scientific and engineering problems, analysis of models, computational
skills, and experience with pursuing a challenging research project.
