We host bicultural girl
empowerment clubs at local schools, libraries and community centers
where middle and high school girls gather weekly for media enrichment
activities. Club members build communication skills through fun,
hands-on media activities such as art, writing, poetry, desktop
publishing, web design, filmmaking and radio production. We utilize
media as a social justice tool to address issues facing young Latinas
today and help prevent girls from high risk behaviors. These
clubs are held one hour per week after school or for a few hours a
couple Saturday mornings a month. Participation times in this program
vary from site to site (usually weekday afternoon between 3-5 or
Saturday mornings). Assignments will be chosen at the training session
