Degree Basics
The Environmental Science Undergraduate Program consists of the University core courses, an Environmental Science core and a concentration. The five concentrations are Biology, Chemistry, Geoscience, Hydroscience and Secondary Education.
The 120 credits required for this degree will prepare you for positions in industry, government and graduate schools around the world. Our graduates have secured careers in the Environmental Protection Agency, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and the U.S. Army. Recruiters from both private and public organizations regularly contact us to let upcoming graduates know about recent job offers.
Internships
All Environmental students are required to serve internships that provide real-world experiences. Internships are chosen to secure academic or professional research skills that match individual career goals. Examples have indluded rescue operations for the Green and Loggerhead Sea Turtles, mapping New Mexico aquifers, measuring climatic changes in the Arctic and even serving as a seasonal ranger. It all depends on the student's interests!
