We seek to hire a Postdoctoral Research Associate starting as early as September 2009 to conduct research in the interface of theoretical high-energy physics and nuclear astrophysics within the Department of Physics of the University of Texas at El Paso. Successful applicants will solve contemporary theoretical and computational problems in dense QCD. The projects include investigations in non-perturbative quantum field theory in the presence of external fields and will require both analytical and numerical approaches. Applicants should have a PhD in physics with a strong background in quantum field theory and computational methods. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills and the capacity to integrate well with a team of graduate students and research faculty. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of a second year appointment, subject to performance. Applicants should send a vita, a brief statement of research interests and should have three letters of reference e-mailed to vincera@utep.edu (pdf format preferred). The University of Texas at El Paso is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employer.
