Pre-Nursing - Preparing for Application to Nursing

Applicants are admitted to the School of Nursing on a competitive basis for a limited number of slots. Selection is made from the applicant pool, based on science GPA, and prerequisite GPA. In order to be a viable candidate, students need to score at an acceptable level (Post HS or HS) on the NET Math and Reading sections, as set by the School of Nursing. All prerequisites must be completed before entering the Nursing program.

Traditional BSN - Traditional 4 year Nursing Degree

Traditional BSN - The undergraduate (traditional) nursing program offers a professional nursing curriculum that provides an innovative integrated and conceptual model for teaching and learning. It is grounded in the sciences upon which increasingly more difficult and complex nursing care concepts and practice are developed. Each course includes care across the life span with increasing complexity, breadth and depth. Critical thinking and decision making are emphasized to provide comprehensive nursing care.

Accelerated BSN - BSN for students with prior degrees (Fast Track)

The Accelerated Fast Track BSN Program is a 12 month program designed for second-degree students interested in making a career change. Students may be accepted into the program with any associate, baccalaureate, or higher degree from an accredited institution that meets the Texas Core requirements. The program is an intensive, full-time course of study which is identical in content to the traditional program, just offered at an accelerated rate.  Students must meet the admissions requirements for the School of Nursing, (See University Undergraduate Catalog for specifics), including completion of required science prerequisite courses with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Additionally, candidates for admission must take the Nurse Entrance Test (NET) and score at "High School" level or above on the reading and math sections of this nationally standardized test. After completing the program, students will earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing and be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) as a registered nurse.

RN-BSN - Online Program for Licensed Registered Nurses

The RN to BSN is an online option that provides a flexible alternative for registered nurses who desire a bachelor's degree in nursing. The professional courses are designed to enhance the education students gained under an associate degree or diploma nursing program, and will help them transition into the profession role of nursing. Students could complete a bachelor's of nursing degree with as few as 30 credit hours.
