Minimum 2.00 GPA required. Students need to complete the following:

CORE REQUIREMENTS (9 hours)

  • FILM 1390: Introduction to the Art of the Motion Picture

  • FILM 3390: Cinematic Directors [separate courses on specific directors such as O. Welles, B. Wilder, Pedro Almodóvar, S. Kubrick, M. Scorsese, A. Hitchcock, or D. Lynch (etc.)]

  • FILM 4390: Film Theory and Criticism

ELECTIVES (9 hours)

Select 9 hours from the following electives:

  • FILM 2391: Cinematic Genres

  • FILM 2396: Video as Personal Expression

  • FILM 3303: The Border in Mexican FIlm   (cross-listed with Chicano Studies)

  • FILM 3391: African-American Film Makers

  • FILM 3392: Radio, TV, and Film Scripting

  • FILM 3393: American Avant-Garde Film

  • FILM 3394: Documentary Film

  • FILM 3395: Women and Film

  • FILM 3302: Chicano Cinema   (cross-listed through Chicano Studies)

  • SPAN 5303: Spanish Cinema

  • ENGL 3302: Film and Literature

  • PHIL 3325: Social Philosophy
