Situated on the U.S. – Mexico border, UTEP serves the greater El Paso/Juarez metropolitan area, a population of over 2.5 million. This unique setting is an ideal environment bringing students together from both cultures to explore and expand their aesthetic approaches and interests through the universal language of the visual arts. The Department of Art offers a comprehensive program in the visual arts. We award the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and the Bachelor of Arts (BA) degrees. Students pursuing an art career may choose to major in any of the following areas: art education, art history, ceramics, drawing, graphic design, metals, painting, printmaking and sculpture. Non-art majors can minor in any of the above areas (except art education) plus art history and museum studies. The Department of Art is located in the beautiful Fox Fine Arts Center on the campus of The University of Texas at El Paso. The Department occupies four floors of the Fox Fine Arts Center, a 215,000 square feet facility, with 30 studios, galleries and classrooms totaling 65,780 square feet. An essential part of our program is an active and dynamic visiting artists series. Some of the recent visiting artists are Beverly Adams, Joe Arrendondo, Gale Anderson, Matthew Bouloutian, Kimberly Davenport, Ruth Estévez, Dirk Fowler, Cheryl Hartup, Miguel Ibarra, Robert Irwin, Luis Jimenez, Donald Judd, Bradford Lawton, Andrew Lewis, David A.
