Are you an ECHS accelerated or traditional student?

As you browse through our pages youwill notice that certain information applies to students who areeither accelerated or traditional. We explain what these terms meanbelow.

  • If you graduated with your associates degree prior to high school graduation, and will be attending UTEP your senior year of high school, you are referred to as an accelerated student.
  • If you are planning to attend UTEP after you graduate with your associates degree and high school diploma, you are referred to as a traditional student.

Student Handbook

The Student Handbook will provide youwith information as it pertains to ECHS students about: applying toUTEP, financial aid, orientation, advising, registration and more!This handbook is an excellent resource to help guide you through yourtransition to UTEP, and will provide you with important contactinformation for UTEP offices, and staff who are particularlyknowledgeable on your needs as as an ECHS student. Scholarships

Scholarships are great financialopportunities that will offset the costs of college. We recommendthat you apply for multiple scholarships so that you may increaseyour chances of receiving this special type of aid. For a better ideaof what type of scholarships there is, and which websites you can useto find them visit our "Paying for College" page linked below.

Accelerated

(You graduated withyour associate's degree prior to high school graduation)
  • If you are an accelerated student, you are not yet able to submit a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Therefore, we highly encourage you to apply for scholarships that will help offset your college expenses.
  • If you will be attending UTEP during your senior year, remember to submit your scholarship contract and course approval form as soon as possible! You can find these forms attached below.


Traditional

(You have alreadygraduated with your associate's degree and high school diploma)

  • If you are a traditional student, it is very important that you submit your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible. Keep in mind that the longer you wait, the less Financial Aid that will be available!
  • We recommend that you begin your scholarship search as soon as you begin your senior year of high school. Remember there are many organizations, foundations, and individuals who are looking for students just like you to help support their college education. All you need to do is apply! Do not miss out on these great opportunities!
