If you are a student attending UTEP or planning to attend UTEP and are interested in going to medical, dental, veterinary, optometry, or physician assistant school, you are in the right place. This is an exciting time to consider a career in the medical professions and especially to begin that journey from UTEP. The number of students in our Medical Professions Institute is growing and so is our reputation. Medical and Dental schools around Texas are interviewing more students from UTEP than ever and we are doing many things to promote that growth.

MPI provides students with resources to :
Attend summer research and medical school familiarization programs both in and out of El Paso and Texas
Prepare for the professional schools tests such as the MCAT, DAT, OAT, and GRE
Volunteer and work in clinics, shelters, and other non profit organizations around El Paso so students understand what a difference commitment to a career in the medical professions can make to our city
Travel to professional conferences on a regional and national level
Provide special classes and workshops on topics such as “Interviewing Skills” and “Writing a Personal Statement”
