The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board awarded Dr. Cristian Botez a Advanced Research Program grant for his high-pressure neutron spectroscopy studies of phosphate-based solid acids.

The MS Thesis of Christian Escudero, "Dynamic and geometric aspects of nuclear isoscaling", was selected as the best MS thesis in Science, Engineering and Health Sciences in the 2006-2007 AY. Christian Escudero earned his MS degree last august under the supervision of Dr. Jorge A. López. In summary three peer reviewed articles were published out of the material of Escudero's thesis. Mr. Escudero is now pursuing a PhD in Geology at UTEP.
