Percussion Ensemble

The University of Texas at El Paso Percussion Ensemble has been under the direction of Professor of Music Larry White since 1980, and is open to all percussion majors and minors.

The ensemble proper is actually three ensembles: a freshman ensemble, an intermediate group, and a top tier ensemble of the more advanced players, including graduate students.

The ensembles perform literature for chamber percussion from all musical eras, but featuring mostly idiomatic compositions for percussion written in the past fifty years.

They perform four concerts a year—the fall concerts are devoted to marching percussion ensemble music from the award-winning UTEP drumline and percussion ensemble/Pandemonium; the two spring concerts are split between the percussion ensemble, marimba ensemble, Pandemonium, and Pantastics steel drum ensemble.

Currently there are over 35 students involved in the various percussion ensembles.
