Program Description

The Ph.D. program is a multi-disciplinary program to prepare scientists and engineers to contribute to this vital field, with a range of skills linking materials, structure, properties, synthesis and processing, and performance. Students develop a research focus in a specialized area using one or more of these skills to study some class or classes of materials including metals, polymers, ceramics, semiconductors, superconductors, composites, and other materials systems.

Description of Existing Collection
NCIP Code: 2b

We have 59 journals in materials science and metallurgy including all parts of Materials Science and Engineering and Journal of Materials Science.  Binary Alloy Phase Diagrams, Version 1.0 is available through CD-ROM.

Current Collecting Intensity
NCIP Code: 3a

Current purchases concentrate on support in materials science. New journals are added whenever possible. Access to Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A and B are now available through IngentaConnect.

Desired Collection Level
NCIP Code: 4

Additional journals and retrospective materials in specific material science fields and related material science fields are needed.

Other Resources

Government Documents has good collections in the areas of aerospace materials, advanced materials, and materials testing.
