Quicksilver invites quality submissions of prose and poetry from emerging and established writers.

Send one piece of short fiction or creative non-fiction, one critical essay of a personal nature, or up to four poems at a time.  All submissions must be attached as a DOC or RTF file and pasted in the body of a message to .  The subject of your e-mail must include your genre and last name; for example “Prose Submission: Jacobs.”  We only consider one submission (one story or essay, or four poems) per issue, per writer.  Additionally, we ask that previous submitters skip a reading period before submitting again; for example, if you submitted during the Fall 2008 reading period, please wait until the Fall 2009 period before sending additional work.

We also welcome submissions of visual art, especially photography.  Please attach your work as a JPEG to your message.

Quicksilver only accepts previously unpublished and electronic submissions.  Cover letters are welcomed; include a third-person biography of less than 50 words.  Simultaneous submissions are accepted as long as work is so noted during initial submission and writers inform us if work is accepted elsewhere.

We are a small operation, so expect a 1-3 month response time.  We are unable to offer payment beyond publication in the magazine, our heartfelt thanks, and the best web hype we can manage.  We request first electronic rights, and would like to archive your work on the site.  Please note that your work first appeared in Quicksilver if it is reprinted elsewhere on the web or in print.

We currently accept less than 5% of all submissions; much good work is sent our way, but we like to keep our house small and clean. At the present time we do not consider plays, screenplays, or novellas.

We do not consider submissions outside our reading periods; any messages will be deleted unread.
